Bangkok Wakes to Rain (2019)

Bangkok is the continuity here, with linked lives carrying the city from its past into an imagined, partly submerged future. The future residents' relationship to lost landmarks makes cultural memory as important as new ways of getting around. Choose it for a patient, layered account of a place that keeps being remade, rather than a continuous disaster thriller. Its speculative passages gain force from the histories and attachments that precede them.
