Company Town (2016)

Hwa’s protection work takes place on an offshore rig that is also a community facing a new owner. That sale can change the terms on which its residents work, live and remain safe, so employment cannot be separated from housing or bodily vulnerability. Ashby gives a worker’s view of corporate reorganisation through a fast speculative mystery. The plot takes increasingly unusual turns, but the dependence created by one company controlling the surrounding infrastructure stays tangible.
