Uwe Seeler

Hamburg's affectionate 'Uns Uwe' tells you more about Seeler's place in the city than a list of international appearances. The prolific centre-forward grew through HSV's youth ranks and remained identified with his hometown club after his playing days. His honorary citizenship and the giant foot sculpture outside the stadium turn that local attachment into something you can actually encounter.
