The Automatic Detective (2008)

Mack Megaton is a robot trying to live as an ordinary citizen when a missing family gives him a reason to investigate. Martinez makes the clash between his destructive design and chosen obligations part of the detective work, in a city full of unreliable science and altered inhabitants. A brisk, comic alternative to the grim noir here, with a recognisable private-eye voice. The joke works because this detective's unusual body and uncertain place in society affect what he can do.
