The apothecary rose (1993)

In York in 1363, deaths connected with an apothecary’s remedies bring Owen Archer into the trade as an apprentice. Medicines, workshop responsibilities, reputation and the business maintained by Lucie Wilton all have investigative weight. Especially rewarding if you notice who actually performs skilled work inside a household. Robb lets the professional setting generate suspicion and relationships, while leaving room for a continuing romantic thread.
