Lost Cause (2023)
Book

A generation working on climate repair has inherited substantial public projects and relatives determined to resist them. Doctorow puts rebuilding infrastructure beside the more intimate problem of loving someone whose politics endanger that work. His hope is unusually concrete: there are jobs to do and institutions already doing some of them. The armed opposition keeps this from being an easy reconciliation story. Read it for solidarity tested within a family and a town.
