Terraformers (2023)

Destry helps maintain a planet being prepared for wealthy buyers, until the people and ecosystems already there challenge the purpose of the whole enterprise. Newitz follows the consequences across generations, giving land ownership, transport and public services unusual narrative importance. The hope comes from workers and residents changing what development is for. Strange bodies and exuberant invention make this much livelier than a policy sketch, while the institutional work remains central.
