Cuckoo's Calling (2013)

A model's apparent suicide gives struggling private investigator Cormoran Strike a paying case, while temporary secretary Robin Ellacott begins showing what she can contribute. Galbraith makes their first working relationship as engaging as the interviews and contradictions surrounding the death. The novel is substantial, but it supplies an actual case to assess before the partnership's longer development becomes the attraction. Begin here rather than skipping ahead for the more established version of the detective agency.
