Descent (2015)

A teenager disappears during a mountain outing on a family holiday in Colorado. Johnston follows the people left searching as well as the danger beyond their view, so the story ranges outside the wilderness. The landscape matters because it frustrates certainty about where to look and what has happened. Choose it for the long emotional reach of a disappearance, with abduction and family distress at its centre.
