The mountain story (2015)

Four people become stranded on a mountain above Palm Springs, with the city visible and assistance still out of reach. Their different abilities and reasons for being there complicate the effort to survive together. This leans towards a survival novel with substantial personal backstory rather than a conventional crime puzzle. A suicidal crisis is part of the premise, and hunger, exposure and grief make it emotionally demanding.
