American Spy (2019)

In the 1980s, Black FBI intelligence officer Marie Mitchell joins an operation involving Burkina Faso's president, Thomas Sankara. Race, professional exclusion and attraction complicate the language of national duty. Wilkinson keeps family history alongside the work, making the people affected by an American operation more than scenery. A literary espionage novel for readers who want the Cold War examined from beyond its familiar European front line.
