Berlin game (1983)

Bernard Samson returns to Berlin when a valued agent warns of a mole, while his own position in British intelligence is being overtaken by more polished colleagues. The competing judgements of a workplace and a marriage give the operation its sting. This begins Game, Set and Match and opens a longer sequence, so choose it when you are willing to follow consequences into later books rather than expect every loyalty to be settled here.
