Black Wings Has My Angel (1953)

An escaped prisoner and a woman he meets in a cheap hotel build a relationship around a large robbery. Chaze makes the money urgent, then shows how having it fails to settle distrust or give either person a workable life. Their conversation has more bite than any display of criminal expertise. The emotional arrangements are as unstable as the heist's logistics. Its harsh sexual politics and violence give neither partner a romantic escape route.
