Super C (1990)

The NES sequel keeps the compact visual language but alternates side-scrolling action with overhead stages. In those overhead sections, a clear view of the floor and approaching shots helps you choose a route before committing to it. Select Super C in Contra Anniversary Collection, rather than the separately included Super Contra arcade game. Later organic stages add more texture and faster threats; keep your attention around the player and the nearest projectile instead of trying to inspect every enemy at once.
