Please Be Happy (2022)

Miho arrives in a fantastical Wellington with a fox's history, a traveller's loneliness and a poor opinion of people. Her possible bonds with aspiring writer Aspen or vampire librarian Juliet make kindness feel like something she has to learn to trust. Two routes each have two happy endings, giving this a clear place on the shortlist when you want a hopeful destination. It still has room for sadness and the difficulty of finding a home.
