James Dyson
Person
Born
A vacuum that lost suction as its bag clogged gave Dyson a specific performance problem to tackle. He adapted cyclone separation used in industry, then spent years developing a domestic machine and a way to manufacture and sell it. The commercial lesson is the move from noticing weak performance to making a repeatable product. Cyclones themselves were established technology; applying and refining them for this use was the work.
