Melitta Bentz

Grit in coffee and awkward cleaning led Bentz to experiment with a perforated pot and paper filtration in 1908. She turned the method into a family business selling filters and replacement paper. A daily irritation became both a durable utensil and a recurring consumable purchase. Her example is especially clear because the customer could understand the improvement after a single cup.
