Madam C. J. Walker

Walker built a hair-care business for Black women whose needs were poorly served by many existing products and outlets. Personal demonstrations, a treatment system and trained sales agents helped customers understand and obtain the range. Her daughter A'Lelia and other organisers supported the business's growth. The response involved service and education alongside products, not simply putting a different label on a jar.
