The Doors (1967)

Ray Manzarek's keyboard lines and Jim Morrison's theatrical singing give the Doors a recognisable identity from their first album. Light My Fire makes the combination immediately inviting; The End stretches it into a far darker performance. The contrast matters: tight pop craft and an appetite for unsettling drama already coexist here.
