Tracy Chapman (1988)

Tracy Chapman's first album arrives with an unusually clear moral and musical voice. Fast Car makes private hopes feel inseparable from work, money and the people around them. The spare acoustic setting keeps that perspective in focus across the record, including songs whose subject matter is much harder than their gentle delivery suggests.
