Person
Johnson founded Copart as a salvage auction business in 1982. Damaged vehicles became the centre of a much wider marketplace as the company developed online bidding and remarketing services. Jay Adair and the technology teams were important to that transition. The interesting part is the market design around an overlooked asset: finding dispersed buyers can change what a wreck is worth and how efficiently it is sold.
