Combat Mission: Battle for Normandy (2011)
Game
Released
Choose this for examining fire and movement at ground level. A supporting machine gun or mortar gives infantry time to approach through useful terrain, while suppression, leadership and individual spotting can frustrate an otherwise tidy plan. The tutorial separates concealment from actual protection. You can play in real time or plan simultaneous one-minute turns and replay what happened. Base-game battles cover American and German forces after D-Day; campaign core units carry losses and ammunition use, with refitting determined by the scenario.
