Évariste Galois
Person
Born
Joseph Liouville's publication of his mathematical manuscripts in 1846, fourteen years after his death, changed the afterlife of his work. Later mathematicians developed the connection between equations and groups into Galois theory. His structural way of asking which equations can be solved became part of the language of modern algebra.
