The more compact alternative if you prefer turns to real-time ship handling. The Battle of the Atlantic campaign makes convoy routes, limited resources and weather part of where you send surface forces or submarines. Poor weather can reduce detection, so the shortest route and the safest route need not agree. Start with training and a single battle before the multi-year dynamic campaign. Tactical turns combine movement with one action, including the trade-off of laying smoke instead of attacking; the game remains hands-on about gunnery.
