Violator (1990)

Enjoy the Silence puts a memorable vocal tune against a cool electronic pulse, while Waiting for the Night shows how much melody Depeche Mode can communicate at a lower volume. The mood is darker than the bright pop records here. Its appeal lies in the tension between sensual singing, restraint and carefully placed sound.
