Andy Bell's singing makes Erasure's precise electronic patterns feel generous and dramatic. A Little Respect has the obvious melodic pull, but Phantom Bride brings a more tender shade of feeling. The attraction is a voice stretching towards big emotions over arrangements that leave its tune easy to follow.
