Dolmen Music (1981)

Gotham Lullaby offers a melodic entrance to Meredith Monk's use of the voice as an instrument with its own imagined vocabulary. The album moves between close, exposed singing and ensemble exchanges that can sound playful, strange or ceremonial. Follow the changes of tone and gesture before looking for a literal story.
