Music From the Penguin Cafe (1976)

Penguin Cafe Single gives you a tune that feels familiar without clearly belonging to one tradition. Simon Jeffes's ensemble joins strings, plucked instruments and repeating patterns in an off-centre chamber sound. The small scale and melodic clarity make it inviting, while the instrumental combinations keep resisting an easy category.
