Born This Way (2011)

The title single makes Lady Gaga's message unmistakably public. Heavy Metal Lover and Government Hooker show a darker, more bodily side of the same album, with altered voices and hard electronic textures shaping the songs' identities. These are useful stops for hearing how her theatrical personality can live inside the production, even when the words are less directly declarative.
