GUTS (2023)

Lacy gives Olivia Rodrigo's voice a softer, more unsettling shape, while pretty isn't pretty turns a clear guitar-pop tune towards the exhaustion of judging your own appearance. Both move beyond vampire's confrontation with another person. The album gains character when its hooks carry envy, self-consciousness and contradictions as readily as romantic anger.
