For the PC release, select Novice and then Original before being tempted by the famous Ultra patterns. It preserves the insect-world spectacle and the pleasure of steering a tiny vulnerable centre through a gap, with a challenge balanced for new players. Focused fire slows your movement for finer control. The later stages can still take repeated attempts, and the PC training menu does not support Novice. Keep that limitation in mind if targeted stage practice is essential to your learning plan.
