Min and Cal's conversations are entangled with meals, friends, a suspect wager and a chorus of people with opinions. Crusie lets different comic temperaments collide, so the jokes also show who is defensive, observant or trying too hard. The romantic warmth is accompanied by on-page sex and persistent body policing from other characters. A useful older rom-com for readers who like an ensemble joining the verbal dance.
