The Secret of Kells (2009)

The threatened monastery and violent invasion make this short animated feature a serious choice for sensitive children. For adults, the intricate patterned imagery and a young apprentice's work on an illuminated manuscript turn the adventure into an absorbing argument about art and protective authority.
