Night Work (2010)

Night Work keeps its disco and electronic pulse taut, but Jake Shears and Ana Matronic bring enough theatrical personality to prevent anonymity. Try Any Which Way for the immediate flash, then notice how Skin This Cat changes the vocal temperature. The album saves space for Invisible Light's extended, spoken-word drama at the end. That final expansion gives the earlier compact songs somewhere to lead.
