Rock With You

Michael Jackson's soft attack gives Rock with You a different kind of payoff from a belted dance anthem. The verses glide, then the chorus's layered vocals and smoothly extended notes seem to lift the groove without disturbing it. The Off the Wall recording is a good reminder that a hook can be both precise and unhurried.
