Three brothers bring an absurd amount of emotional baggage to a meticulously organised train journey through India. The trip becomes more interesting whenever their control of it breaks down. Wes Anderson's arrangements make the shared compartments funny, while grief gives their awkwardness weight. Pick it for the discovery that travelling together cannot be managed like an appointment. Its invented train and selective view of India belong to these American visitors' story, rather than representing the country as a whole.

Three American brothers who have not spoken to each other in a year set off on a train voyage across India with a plan to find themselves and bond with each other -- to become brothers again like they used to be. Their "spiritual quest", however, veers rapidly off-course (due to events involving over-the-counter pain killers, Indian cough syrup, and pepper spray).
