The Long Dumb Road (2018)
Movie
Released
An aspiring photographer heading for art school acquires a companion whose enthusiasm is much more reliable than his judgement. Tony Revolori and Jason Mantzoukas make the mismatch uncomfortable as well as funny, letting a planned passage through the American Southwest become something neither man fully controls. Hannah Fidell's film suits the appetite for unexpected company more than the dream of an idyllic getaway. Its abrasive, crude detours are a useful reminder that leaving the itinerary behind has a cost.
