“Wuthering Heights” (2026)

Charli xcx's album for Emerald Fennell's 2026 film turns gothic longing into concentrated pop atmosphere. House, featuring John Cale, and Eyes of the World, featuring Sky Ferreira, give the record more dramatic range than a lone tie-in single. Its recurring mood feels more controlled than the film's crowded succession of provocative images. That preference need not dismiss the adaptation's pleasures: this is the original song album, whose emotional shape stands apart from Anthony Willis's score and the demands of retelling the novel.
