Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack (2001)

This 2001 standalone story gives the monster a disturbing connection to the war dead. A reporter and her father approach the crisis from different generations, so forgetting history becomes part of the danger. It mixes that bleak idea with exuberant monster combat rather than maintaining a uniformly solemn mood.
