The Return of Godzilla (1984)

The 1984 Japanese film restores Godzilla as a threat and places Japan between rival nuclear powers. The pressure comes as much from decisions made at a distance as from the creature in Tokyo. Choose it for Cold War unease, while recognising that its characters are broader than those in the strongest family-led entries.
