Fatherland (2014)

Nina Bunjevac follows family memories into the history of Yugoslavia and her father's violent nationalism in exile. Dense, carefully shaded drawings give photographs and recollections a disturbing stillness. It belongs here for the way political violence enters intimate relationships and leaves later generations trying to understand a person they barely knew.
