Bridesmaids (2011)
Movie
Released
The battle to prove who is the bride's closest friend makes every toast and supposedly lovely outing a comic minefield. Kristen Wiig and Rose Byrne are especially sharp at weaponising politeness, while Melissa McCarthy punctures the social performance. Watch with friends who enjoy squirming together: the humiliation and bodily chaos are broad, but the fear of being replaced gives the laughter a recognisable sting.
