There Will Be Blood (2007)

Daniel Plainview's voice and physical presence seem to shape the landscape around him. The film makes ambition feel exhilarating and poisonous through scale, sound and increasingly charged confrontations. A powerful choice for discovering how a character study can also become an argument about money, belief and the cost of treating everyone as a rival.
