The Lunchbox (2013)
Movie
Released
A mistaken lunch delivery opens a private correspondence inside Mumbai's crowded working day. Ritesh Batra makes trains, office desks and domestic kitchens parts of the same social machine, even when the people using it remain strangers. The useful distinction is between circulation and connection: a system can move food across the city more easily than it can relieve loneliness.

About The Lunchbox
A mistaken delivery in Mumbai's famously efficient lunchbox delivery system (Mumbai's Dabbawallahs) connects a young housewife to a stranger in the dusk of his life. They build a fantasy world together through notes in the lunchbox. Gradually, this fantasy threatens to overwhelm their reality.
