Vienna's trams, late-night streets and semi-public corners give Jesse and Céline places to keep talking without having to settle what their meeting means. Richard Linklater makes the available hours and transport connections part of the romance. The appeal is a walk that changes the conversation, rather than a checklist of monuments; this is the city as two visitors can temporarily use it.
