Detective Shows for People Who Prefer a Case Each Episode

Sometimes you want an investigation, a few plausible suspects and an answer before you turn in. These detective shows keep a substantial case at the centre of an episode, whether it lasts forty minutes or the length of a small film. Columbo and Elsbeth show you the culprit early; Poirot and Jonathan Creek invite you to solve the puzzle. Some series carry personal stories between cases, and the entries flag the stronger continuing threads. Start with the setting and detective whose company appeals.
