Saving Face (2004)
Movie
Released
Wil's budding relationship with a dancer has to fit around hospital work, her pregnant mother moving in and a community with plenty of opinions. Alice Wu lets the family comedy and the love story complicate each other, giving Wil's secrecy a social cost rather than using it as a disposable misunderstanding. Michelle Krusiec and Lynn Chen make the private flirtation appealingly playful. A warm option if you want romance surrounded by relatives, gossip and competing responsibilities.
