Decision to Leave (2022)
Movie
Released
A detective's interest in a widow becomes impossible to separate from his investigation. Park Chan-wook makes scrutiny, translation and ordinary acts of care feel charged, so the romantic tension operates through the very mechanisms of the mystery. The attraction is compelling without making the detective's compromised judgement sensible or admirable. Pick this for intricate crime storytelling and destructive yearning; its sombre mood is a long way from a reassuring couple's night in.
