Paddington 2 (2017)

The first Paddington gives its outsider a home; the sequel tests what his kindness can do when that home is taken away. A prison kitchen and a neighbourhood investigation turn the supporting cast into moving parts of the same comic machine. Hugh Grant's vain actor adds a different flavour of silliness. The intricate pay-offs make the warmth feel earned through action rather than a lesson repeated.
