A crew travelling to revive a dying sun has to weigh individual lives against a mission for everyone else. Brief messages, strained loyalties and the ship's precious living garden keep that enormous calculation tangible. The later turn towards violent horror changes the experience sharply. It earns a place for the earlier and continuing pressure of caring about people you may have to endanger.

Fifty years into the future, the sun is dying, and Earth is threatened by arctic temperatures. A team of astronauts is sent to revive the Sun — but the mission fails. Seven years later, a new team is sent to finish the mission as mankind’s last hope.
